DSDA STATES

2019 — Middletown, DE/US

PLEASE NOTE:  THe tournament starts at 8:00. Please meet in the cafeteria.

Welcome to the 2nd annual Delaware State Speech and Debate tournament!  It will be held at A. G. Waters MS 1235 Cedar Lane Rd, Middletown, DE 19709 on April 13, 2019. As with last year, this is open to both middle and high school DE students in an effort to quickly build the forensics community in Delaware, which (until last year) was the ONLY state in the U.S. offering no speech and debate activities.

The competition will be limited to school students who attend Delaware schools (public, private, parochial).  If a home student wishes to attend, they may compete with permission of the principal of the school to which they are assigned.

As with all speech and debate competitions, parents and coaches are expected to attend and serve as judges.  We will be training all judges prior to the competition on events and on how to use electronic ballots.  In order to do this, all adults must be registered on Tabroom.com and be linked to their specific school.  Students must also be members of Tabroom in order to be registered for this tournament.

The schedule is for three rounds of competition in every event, with the exception of Policy Debate and Congress (two rounds).  Students will therefore be speaking at least three times.  The 3 prelim rounds will occur in the morning followed by lunch and finals if necessary.  Awards will be in the afternoon around 2:00.

Dress should be suit/tie, work dress/suit, nice shoes, belt, etc- decorum is an important part of forensics training.

Pizza will be available for purchase - coaches sign up quantity for their team on the concessions page.
