Canyon Springs is excited to host our first Golden Desert Speech and Debate Association World Schools Debate Bootcamp!

Students will have the opportunity to learn the WSD rubric, use it to evaluate a sample round, participate in workshops on the various portions of WSD, and compete in an Impromptu round. If time allows, we will change sides, take 30 minutes to re-prep, and do the impromptu round again.

Students do not need team members to attend. Hybrid teams will be created on-site if necessary.

Our schedule will be:

8-8:30 AM: Learn the Rubric

8:45-9:45 AM: Watch and score a Sample Round

9:45-10:15 AM: Sample Round Debrief and Q&A

10:15-11:30: Round Robin Sessions led by team members and Coaches; Students will have the opportunity to visit all Round Robins

11:30-Noon: Lunch--Team Fee of $10 will be used to provide lunch

Noon-1: Impromptu Prep

1-2:15-Impromptu Round 1

2:15-2:30: Q&A on any questions that came up in Round

2:30-3: Prep for other side

3-4:15: Flip Side Round

4:15-4:30: Debrief and Q&A

4:30-5: Speaker Awards
