NYU Public Transit Scrimmage

On behalf of President Andrew Hamilton, the Stern Business & Society Program and the NYU CEDA Debate team, it is our pleasure to invite you to the 2018 NYU Public Transit Scrimmage from November 10-11, 2018.
* Entry and Deadlines: tournament entries, including all contestant judge conflicts should be made through www.tabroom.com. Please enter the tournament by November 6, 2018 at 5PM. Be sure to email late entries or any last minute changes to globaldebate@nyu.edu.
* Resolution: The tournament will be debating the 2018-2019 CEDA resolution.
* Format: Two divisions of debate will be offered: novice and junior varsity.
* Time limits for speeches are 9-3-6 with 10 minutes of preparation time.
*There will be six preliminary rounds. Rounds one and two will be pre-set. Rounds three through six will be power matched. The tournament will be tabbed by the NYU coaching staff with outside oversight from members of the New School coaching staff.
The required FULL elimination rounds will be offered in accordance with applicable rules and based on the size of the tournament.
*Entries: Enter as many teams as you like in each division. If entries exceed room availability, latecomers may be restricted.
*Awards: Awards will be based on the number of entries.
*Fees: $40/person. To pay by check, please it payable to either New York University or Will Baker.
*Judging: one judge is required for every two teams entered and must be entered on the Tabroom.com with their conflicts and any division restrictions. Uncovered teams will be charged an additional $100 judging fee. Judging obligations extend one round beyond that in which your team is eliminated. All judges must render a decision no later than two hours after the scheduled start of the round. If 2 hours and 15 minutes have elapsed we will flip a coin to determine the next rounds’ pairing.
*Directions: New York City is served by Amtrak, Metro-North, the Long Island Railroad and New Jersey PATH Trains. Please follow the directions below to visit the Stern Campus. PATH Trains from New Jersey Take train to Ninth Street Station (Sixth Avenue and Ninth Street), then walk south to West 4th Street and east to Greene Street. Getting to Stern by Bus All Greyhound and New Jersey Transit buses go to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. From there, take the Eighth Avenue subwayas described below or a taxi to West 4th Street and Greene Street. Getting to Stern by Subway Take the 6 train to Astor Plaza, the N/R train to 8th Street-NYU, or the B,D, F or M train to West 4th Street Station. Follow your GPS to Tisch Hall.
Once You Arrive When you arrive at the intersection of West Fourth Street and Greene Street, you will be in front of Stern's Gould Plaza. Tisch Hall will be directly in front located at 40 West Fourth Street.
Security: If you are not an NYU student, you will need an ID to enter the building.
