Event Description:
A combination of Prose and Poetry.
Prose:
7-10 minutes
A presentation consisting of an expressive reading from a selection of literature such as a shot story, a cutting from a novel, or a non-fiction selection. A manuscript in a small black binder is allowed, and complete memorization is not allowed. The presentation must include a short, original introduction to give background and insight to your piece. No props, costumes or visual aids.
Poetry:
7-10 minutes
A presentation of a chosen published piece of poetry. The event consists of an interpretation of another author’s work. Competitors read the material from a small, black binder they use in performance. Because competitors interpret the literature via facial expressions and eye contact, memorization is generally helpful. The presentation must include a short, original introduction to give background and insight to your piece.
