Event Description:
Each student draws three topics on current issues, chooses one, and has thirty minutes to prepare a speech of a maximum length of seven minutes. Any periodical or other published material is permitted in the preparation room. Electronic storage/retrieval devices (laptops, tablets, etc.) are permitted in the preparation room but Internet connectivity, messaging, and retrieval of pre-written speeches or notes are not allowed. Please refer to the NCFL Rules for Computer Use in Extemp. Students may not refer to any written notes during the speech. NCFL Rules will apply. Students and judges may also want to review the rules and instructions as outlined on the NCFL Master Ballot and the NCFL Critique Sheet.
