Novice Storybook

Event Description:

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Speakers read from a book to imaginary group of preschoolers, emphasizing characters, artwork and the story arc.

2. Their Introduction should create anticipation, explain the context of the story and engage the audience; introductions are counted in the time limit.

3. The story is read in the third person; speakers may sit or stand but cannot switch positions during the presentation.

4. Stories should run at least 3 minutes but cannot exceed 8:30; judges should penalize speakers one place in the round if the presentation is over or under the time limits.

5. Storybook is an entry-level event to for Novice speakers only; all comments on ballots should be positive & helpful.
