Novice Humorous

Event Description:

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Speaker(s) deliver a scripted speech from published work of fiction, prose or poetry, humorous or dramatic. Title and author must be announced.

2. Speaker(s) must include an Introduction — it need not be memorized but it is included in the time limit.

3. Body movements are limited to a one-step radius; gestures should be “restrained,” not overly theatrical.

4. Speaker(s) should be marked down one place in the round if they exceed the 8:30 time limit.

5. There is no minimum time limit.

6. This is an entry-level event for Novice speakers; all comments on ballots should be positive & helpful.
