Novice Expository

Event Description:

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. An Expository speech is meant to describe, clarify or explain an object, idea or process.

2. The speech is delivered as a presentation or demonstration, not “theatrically” or as a performance.

3. Speech must be speaker’s original work, delivered from memory or use of notecards; scripts are not allowed.

4. Use of visual aids is encouraged, but not mandatory; speakers are not penalized if no visual aids are used.

5. Speaker(s) should be marked down one place in the round if they exceed the 8:30 time limit.
