Novice Editorial Commentary

Event Description:

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. An Editorial Commentary should be a speech taking a position on an issue of substance or popularity.

2. Speech must be speaker’s original work; delivered from seated position as if “on camera” for a TV station.

3. Speakers deliver their speeches to a designated “camera;” eye contact with Judge is not applicable.

4. Speakers have exactly 1:45 to 2:00 for their speech — no grace periods; time violations require that the speaker be dropped one place in the rankings and may not be awarded 1^st place in the round.

5. Speech must contain at least one credible reference to research, articles or reports related to the topic.
