Event Description:
This event requires the use of a manuscript. It can be performed individually or with a partner. The student(s) will present original material that they have written themselves; short stories, poetry, or plays are allowed. The material may be either serious or humorous in nature. Multiple characters are allowed. The student(s) may use vocal skills, facial expressions, and/or hand gestures to develop a narrator and character/s. The presentation should include an introduction which cites the name of the piece and the author. The writing should provide a cohesive scene or storyline (containing a definite beginning, middle, and end). The student (s) will be judged not only on the quality of their performance but also the quality of the writing. Time: 7 minute maximum (including introduction) - no minimum; 30 second grace
