Event Description:

Duet Acting (DA)--Two performers present a memorized selection not more than ten minutes in length from a published work of literature. A short introduction should be included. Most, but not all, cuttings are from plays. A table and two chairs are permitted as properties. Content: material should be appropriate to the student and audience and worthy of study. Delivery: performers should present developed characterizations. Actors should act and react to each other. Movement should be appropriate and varied. Ideally, the audience should be caught up in the performance and involved in what is happening.

Duo Interpretation(Duo) - Students in these events will perform interpretations of either humorous or dramatic pieces of literature, using two person teams. These interpretations may be cut from various parts of one piece of literature, or from one, continuous part of the literature. Literature may include play scripts, novels, short stories, or poems. In this event, performers should not make direct eye contact, nor should they touch one another. Costuming and props are also prohibited. The weight of the performance should be balanced equally between the two performers. These performances should not exceed 10 minutes in length.
