Hello again!

All judge information is due a week from today, Monday, 10/8, at 9:00 p.m.

This year the tournament is requiring all judges in LD, PF and Policy to post a paradigm on tabroom.com. There are strikes and prefs in these divisions, which is virtually impossible for teams to handle if they don’t have good useful information on who is who in the pool. Those paradigms are also due by 10/8 at 9:00 p.m. Given that this is a day off for a lot of schools, coaches might wish to attend to it earlier. I know this sounds draconian—and it is—but any judge without a paradigm will be dropped by the tournament prior to prefs/strikes, which open on the evening of Oct 10. This will, of course, remove the ability of that school to pref/strike in that division, and hit them with missing-judge fines. We certainly don’t want to do any of this, and we’ll keep reminding you so that you don’t get caught judgeless.

Understandably, in PF there may be newcomers to the activity, for whom a paradigm is a puzzlement. Training of judges is the responsibility of the schools that bring them, of course, but this document might prove helpful in providing new PF judges some information on how to judge and what to expect, plus how to prepare a simple, meaningful paradigm on tabroom: http://www.jimmenick.com/vault/PF_intro.pdf Feel free to distribute it as you see fit.

Thanks for your patience with all of this.
