Text of message:

Dear Congress coach,

We are looking forward to hosting Congressional Debate at next weekend's Newman Invitational. As of today, there are about 60 debaters entered in that event, so we will have 3 chambers with the top 7 in each chamber advancing to finals on Saturday afternoon.

This email has two requests:

1. We need strong parliamentarians. If any of your judges that you have listed for Congress (or any other event) would be a good parliamentarian for a nationally competitive Congress, please let us know. Parliamentarians would need to be available for both the Friday session and the Saturday session (and at least one parliamentarian for finals). Send us names of potential parliamentarians that will be coming with you.

2. Because we only need 3 chambers and all judges must be unaffiliated, some of the Congress judges will only be able to judge at most one session of Congress. If you have 3 or more debaters, your Congress judges won't judge any Congress unless all of your students fail to break to the final session. We will set up the Congress judges by session by the middle of next week, but we plan on moving any Congress judges who cannot be used for Congress during a particular session into another judge pool, such as Public Forum Debate. If you have a preference as to how your Congress judges should be reassigned (assuming they will be reassigned during at least one session), please let us know. If we don't hear from you, we will move them to PF as that is our greatest need as of now.

Any Congress judges moved into one of the other debate pools (Policy, LD, PF) must have a tabroom account since we are using online balloting in those events. Please check to see if they have one. If they don't, they need to set one up under their own email addresses with their own passwords. They would also need a wireless device (i.e., smartphone, tablet, laptop) in order to enter decisions, points, and RFD.

Again, please let us know if any of your judges would be good parliamentarians, and please let us know how your Congress judges should be reassigned to another judge pool if we cannot use them for a prelim session and/or final session. The default is PF, so you only need to let us know if the preference is a judge pool other than PF.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Greg and Alma
