Hi,

Any schools competing in Congress only need to send ONE Congress judge on Saturday. I have them in the debate pool because I wanted to use Congress judges that couldn't fit in Congress in the other debate events. So, even though it will look like some schools are under requirements because of Congress judges, that will be ok and acknowledged at registration. That said, feel free to bring some extra judges if you can find them lying around.

Second, we have "Debate" as a judging category so that we can have enough judges to single-flight the tournament and try to avoid same-school matchups, but also to expose debaters to events they may not be used to competing in or judging. The Tabroom will have knowledge of which student judges are primarily PFD and LD judges, and we will make an effort to have you judge your preferred event, but you will also likely judge LD if you have done PFD, and vice versa.

Lastly, one more reminder on NOVEMBER topics. LDers should be working on Resolved: The United States ought to limit qualified immunity for police officers. PFD should be debating Resolved: On balance, the benefits of the Internet of Things outweigh the harms of decreased personal privacy.

Thanks, and excited to kick off the 2016-17 Season Saturday,

Ben Edwards & Dave Watson
