VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE

TO ALL COACHES:

Based on the cap of 120 teams, as of NOON today (Thursday, December 3), The Sunflower Invitational is full and guaranteed admission is closed.  43 schools are entered, and there are currently 49 Open Novice and 73 9th Grade Novice teams entered.  Schools that are included in the 43 have requested 1, 2, or 3 teams.  NO "Wait List" requests have been honored.

2 schools are currently on the tournament "Wait List".  The only way they can be accommodated is if there are "drops" from entries as received, OR after DCI registration is complete we can find additional reasonable spaces for novice debates.

Because we originally announced that registration would be open until 5:00 pm, Tuesday, December 15, we will continue to accept school entries until that time.  ALL such entries will be automatically "wait listed."

REGARDS SUBMITTED "WAIT LIST" REQUESTS

1.  A list has been made, organized based on the time stamp from original registration, of all schools that originally requested a fourth team. There are 27 schools that originally requested a fourth team.

2.  Should, after all schools are accommodated, there be remaining spaces, schools will be asked in the "Wait List" order if they wish to add a fourth team.  The "Wait List" order will be distributed on Tuesday, January 5, upon return from Winter Break.

ADDITIONAL VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1.  Each school registered teams into either the Open Novice and/or the 9th Grade Novice division.  This is how your present entry is lisrted.  THIS IS ONLY A PRELIMINARY ENTRY.  The only fixed element is if you have 1, 2, or 3 teams entered and guaranteed at this point in time.

2.  If you have 3 teams entered, you will be free to move those amongst the two divisions as your situation warrants up to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, Janary 6, 2016.  IF YOU GO TO TABROOM, you will see that if you had requested a "Wait List" fourth team, I have already marked it to be deleted.  If you will complete this process, I will know that you have seen this email and understand how we are proceeding.

3.  Likewise, names are not official at this time.  You are free to mix and match as you see fit to create your teams until the 5:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6 deadline.  Remember:  Open Novice, Novice debaters, any year in school; 9th Grade Novice, both team members must be in the 9th grade.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

4.  If you requested only 1 or 2 teams, you may not increase that number; you can request that you be placed on the School Wait List for adding additional teams if you wish, but will go below "Wait Listed" schools with no entries at present time.

REGARDING JUDGES

You will receie a separate email regarding judges, names, profiles, etc., early next week.  Just as is the case with team entries, you will have until 5:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2016 to enter, change, etc., your judge names.

Remember, you are obligated for 1 judge for every 2 or fraction therof entries.  (ie 1 team, 1 judge; 2 teams, 1 judge; 3 teams, 2 judges)

Watch for an email next Tuesday, December 8th.

FEES

Your obligation for fees will become "official" with the close of Registration at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, December 15.  At that time you will be obligated for fees ($10.00 per team) for your entire entry, even though you may later "drop" one or more of your entered teams.

Chacks should be made payable to "Washburn Rural Debate," and mailed c/o Cindy Burgett, Washburn Rural High School, 5900 SW 61st St., Topeka KS  66619-9404.

Since you will know your final entryt next Tuesday, there should be no problems in requesting and mailing checks to Ms. Burgett to be received by January 8th.

If you should have questions, please contact me at your convenience.  And, thanks for your patience as we strive to maximize tournament opportunities for young debaters throughout the state in The Sunflower Invitational.

Most sincerely,

Steven Davis, Washburn Rural Assistant
