Hi and Happy New Year!

I just wanted to write remind you about some impending deadlines for the Cougar Classic coming up this weekend. Please take a second to check your entries and judges on tabroom so we can resolve any problems before its too late.

I will be at a tournament in Dallas starting tomorrow until the 5th, so I may be a bit slower on getting back to you on any emails. I will still be able to answer my work phone (from my computer) but if you need anything please feel free to call or text (713) 348-9408.

Preferences Due

CX & LD

Thursday – January 7, 6:00 pm

Online Registration

Tabroom allows coaches to confirm entries online in lieu of on-site registration

Thursday – January 7, 8:00 am –

9:00 pm

On-site Registration

Heights Room (2nd floor), University of Houston Student Center

Thursday – January 7, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

and

Friday – January 8, 7:00 am – 9:00 am (for those who check-in online)

Again, I’d like to encourage teams to also consider entering the Dobie portion of the Swing, there’s no added cost, just more debates. Even if you think your teams may be in the elimination rounds of the UH tournament, don’t worry, we’ll be sure to remove them from the Dobie pool if they are in the UH elims.

Preferences

In CX and LD, preferences will open on January 4th. You will see a new tab on your registration page that will be red (until you have finished your preferences). We will be using a 1-6 mutual category system in both CX and LD. Please encourage your judges to enter paradigms on tabroom or on the judge philosophy wiki, if they have not done so already.

Registration

There will be both online and on-site registration. If you use the online registration confirmation system, you don’t need to come to registration on Thursday, which will be in the UH Student Center (Map - https://goo.gl/maps/oBAVphLVhjs) Heights Room from 6-9 pm on Thursday.

For those who check-in on tabroom, we will also have registration starting at 7 am in the Classroom and Business Building (CBB, Map - https://goo.gl/maps/EfytPZstpGy)  lobby.

Please feel free to call or text with any questions - 713-348-9408

Parking

I will have parking passes for those who need to park cars on campus at registration and at the main tab table. This will mainly be relevant on Friday, when the University is open. I recommend parking in lot 21B (map - https://goo.gl/maps/ksfDLH3m4b92)  which is close to most of our tournament spaces (most events will take in close proximity to the CBB, see map above).  Bus parking – if you need bus parking, send me an email and I’ll let you know what works. You could also park in one of the parking garages, but it will be a bit pricey. The passes are free (to you) and will allow you to park closer to most buildings.

Invoices

Invoices are available on Tabroom (Instructions here https://goo.gl/Wrli2m). The University’s W9 is available here: https://goo.gl/ZwJHMq

Make checks payable to the University of Houston.

If you’d like to send fees before the tournament, our mailing address is:

Tabroom Accounts

Everything at the tournament will be run through tabroom, with online pairings, ballot entry and results. I’d encourage you to get your team to sign up and “link” their account to their student information in Tabroom, instructions here https://goo.gl/BIHNRM. This will allow them to opt to receive pairings by email or text and also see ballots. (Judges must have a tabroom account).

Dietary Restrictions

If you have students or judges who have dietary restrictions or needs, please enter that information on Tabroom as well – Instructions here https://goo.gl/jl9sKZ. I currently only have Five  vegetarians and that can’t be true.

We will be serving bagels and coffee in the mornings for breakfast. Lunch will be Which Wich boxed lunches on Friday and Bullritos burritos on Sunday. There will be a pizza dinner on Friday.

Contacting me
