Hi everyone,

Loyola Blakefield looks forward to hosting you on Saturday for the District Tournament!

Here are a few updates as the competition draws near:

EVENTS: Based on registration numbers, OO, USX, DUO, and DI will have three prelim rounds breaking to a final. INFO, IX, HI, and POI will have three rounds total with no final. Congress House will have one AM and one PM session. Policy will likely have at least four rounds. LD will likely have at least six rounds. PF is the largest event at the tournament and will likely need at least seven rounds to determine the qualifiers.

JUDGES PLEASE NOTE: The judge pool is tight, so unless tab has already been notified of any restrictions, all judges are obligated for the duration of the tournament. Here's why: We can only complete the tournament if we have judges available from teams that have already been eliminated, because judges from schools still competing can't judge their own students. Early departures prolong the day for everyone, and we need to get people home at a reasonable time. We really do need your help on this. Teams will be fined for any early judge departures, but we want your judging more than we want your money. If judges leave early the tournament simply will not finish.

PARKING: There is a lot of construction on campus at the moment. The best place to park is in the Chestnut Avenue lot, right next to the tennis court. The path will lead you straight into Wheeler Hall basement where the student lounge is. Unfortunately, due to construction half of that lot is blocked off with fencing. If that lot is full, there are more lots when you turn in the main entrance off of Chesnut, behind Knott Hall. Please do NOT attempt to drive down to the loop outside of Wheeler Hall or park there... that area is now a construction zone and is off-limits to vehicles.

IMPORTANT PLACES: Tab and school registration is Wheeler 113. The judge lounge and judge check-in is in Wheeler Library (2nd floor). The student lounge is in Wheeler Basement. The extemp prep room is Wheeler 101.

SCHOOL REGISTRATION: Registration for schools will take place outside of the tab room, Wheeler 113. Registration opens at 7:30 AM and will close at 8:00 AM. Only the adult coach in charge of a school's team should attend (not parents or students or judges). At registration, you will be asked to verify your entries and notify us of any last-minute changes. We will also be collecting payment at that time. Payments MUST be received in full before the start of the tournament or you will not be permitted to compete. This is an NSDA requirement. Checks should be made payable to "Chesapeake NSDA District".

Coaches, if you are unavoidably delayed, please send a text message to 914-907-6322 and include your school, whether you have any changes, and when you expect to arrive.

Also at registration, you will be asked to turn in the School Consent form, and the Single Entry Letter of Intent Form for any student that is entered in multiple events. These can by found by clicking on the "NSDA Forms" tab in your Districts registration on Tabroom. Extra copies will be available at check in if you forget.

JUDGE CHECK-IN: Judges should report to the library upon arrival, which is on the second floor of Wheeler Hall. The judge check-in sheet will be located there ... check off your name! If you are a judge HIRED by the tournament, look for Mr. Klein in the judge check-in area. He will give you a form to fill out. Please arrive by 8 AM.

AWARDS: Awards is tentatively scheduled for 6:45 PM in Wheeler Lounge. Join us to celebrate our national qualifiers, as well as the District Student, Coach, New Coach, Volunteer, Administrator, Alumni, and Communicator of the Year!

It should be a great day! I can't wait to see everyone and get started!
