73rd National Debate Tournament
2019 — Minneapolis, MN, MN/US
Text of message
As many of you know, our scouting efforts were stretched thin this year. We have a total of 27 scouts who have worked diligently to assist in the important task of evidence sharing to help promote an equitable NDT. About half of our scouts have worked all 6 prelims and every scout is assigned 2 debates per round. Sustaining this labor with our current amount of volunteers is unreasonable and also poses a risk of decreasing the quality of the benefits of the NDT scouting efforts. When scouts are spread out in multiple rounds, it increases the odds of something being missed or creating incomplete round reports which are necessary for teams as they prepare for the crucial day 3.
As we approach critical break rounds, I will limit scouts to one room assignment per round to ensure the quality of scouting for the community. In light of this, starting tomorrow we will be narrowing our scouting efforts to rounds with break-eligible teams only. All rounds will still have an official NDT email chain for the evidence chain. However, teams without a scout will be expected to update their wikis after the debate. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
