Slinger Forensics Tournament
2019 — Slinger, WI/US
Text of message:
We hope you all survived this crazy week of snow, cold and school cancellations. Now that the Polar Vortex is behind us, let’s heat up the competition this Saturday in Slinger. Here are a few details about the day:
Speaker Codes: Speaker codes are available online on Tabroom. You can log into your account and click on the “Entry” button next to the Slinger Forensics Tournament. From there you can print your speaker codes either by entry or by person.
Registration: Upon arrival, please register your team. We will have the registration table located just after you pass through the front doors of the high school.
Confirmation: Please, Please, Please, to keep our tournament starting on schedule, we need you to confirm the status of your team by 7:30 am. You can confirm online or by text. Even if you have no drops, you must let us know all are present. An example text can be: “Slinger HS: drop Kelsey Berg, Storytelling AB311” OR “Slinger HS: ALL Present”. Text Susan Gehring at 262-416-8049 or Melissa Stolaski at 920-948-6968. We will respond to your text within 10 minutes. If you don’t get a reply back within 10 minutes, please send another text.
Online Confirmation: You can also confirm your entries online. Go online and choose the “confirm onsite” button and follow the directions instead of texting in. By no means can you drop a judge at this time. You must call or text us if you have a conflict with a missing judge so we know ahead of time.
It is critical (and professional etiquette) that you let us know of any drops by 7:30. Not reporting drops makes our sections unbalanced and ultimately affects the numbers we can move to the power round.
Bus Drop Off/Pick Up: Please have your bus drop you off at the front door of the high school. You will see “Slinger High School” above the doors. Pick up will be at the PAC, which is located on the east side of the school in between the school and football field.
Slinger Elementary School: We will hold all Radio & Extemp competition there. It is literally a 30 second walk from the high school. It forecasted to be a balmy 38 degrees in Slinger on Saturday:) You will see ES in the schedule for any categories assigned to the elementary school.
Online Balloting: Judges are encouraged to complete their critique sheets online instead of completing them by hand. As an added bonus, you’ll be able to skip the line at the ballot check in table. You must provide your own laptop. A step by step guide to online balloting can be found at the tournament website, slinger.tabroom.com Please check it out.
Food: Fruit, granola bars and water will be available for purchase before competition begins. We will be selling pizza, macaroni and cheese and various other items for lunch in the cafeteria. Complimentary breakfast and lunch items will be provided to coaches and judges. Vegetarian options are available.
Individual awards will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each category. Medals will be given to all finalists.
Large team (19 entries and above) and small team (12-18 entries) awards will be given as well to the top 3 schools in each category.
(NEW) Coach’s choice award: Each school will go home with 1 special medal that will be awarded to the student of your choice. Recognize effort, attitude, leadership..whatever you deem deserves recognition.
