Jean Ward Invitational
2019 — Portland, OR, OR/US
Text of message:
Last email for this year's tournament. Thank you all for attending - there were a lot of great performances on our campus last weekend. Thank you for your patience with implementing online ballots. We learned a lot and have are already discussing ideas to make it more efficient next year.
A few final notes:
1) If you are looking for an address to send a check to- make it out to "Lewis & Clark Forensics":
Lewis & Clark Forensics
c/o Joe Gantt
0615 SW Palatine Hill Road
Portland, OR 97219
2) I wanted to recognize our sweepstakes champions in debate and overall as they were not decided at awards.
Debate: 1) Lincoln 2) Gig Harbor 3) Cleveland (tie broken with Ashland, McMinnville, OES & Oak Hill based on number of advancing entries)
Overall: 1) Cleveland 2) McMinnville 3) Woodrow Wilson
3) A sad note, and one that I hope you will pass on to your students. On Monday, our IT crew came out to campus and found that many of our classrooms had computer equipment that had been moved, unplugged, and in one case damaged. This ended up costing the tournament at least an extra $600 for IT labor as they had to get the campus ready for classes on Tuesday. We know that tournaments can create a mess that needs to be cleaned up and are prepared for that, but this was not something we prepared for (and had never been a problem at previous high school tournaments). Please pass on to your students to respect the classrooms that they compete in and not to disturb anything beyond a reconfiguration of desks or chairs.
