Public Forum Judges,
Good evening! I am tabbing Public Forum at the Peach State Classic this weekend. Thank you for helping facilitate the growth and education of the debaters this weekend by serving as a judge.
All judges are asked to post a paradigm on Tabroom.com outlining any judging preferences that you want debaters to be aware of before you judge them. You can edit your paradigm by clicking on your email address at the top of the Tabroom.com website. This will take you to your home page/dashboard. On the right, there is a bold heading that says "Judging", and beneath that you will see a blue button that says "Paradigm". Click there, and it will open a text editor where you can enter your paradigm.
Your paradigm does not need to be very long. You can click here to read examples from judges who have already submitted their paradigms for this weekend. At minimum I would suggest including:
Your Connection to Debate - head coach, former or current debater, parent, high school teacher sponsor, etc. If you coach at/debated for a school, which one(s)?
Years of Experience Participating/Coaching/Judging Debate - if you participated in multiple events, or your primary event was not public forum, that information would be helpful for students to know
Do you take notes/flow the debate?
How do you feel the speed at which debaters speak in the round?
Do you have any guidelines for speaker points/decorum you expect to see in the round?
What factors do you usually consider when making your decision on who won/lost the debate?
All judges are asked to submit their paradigms by 1 PM Eastern Time tomorrow, November 8. If you need any help submitting your paradigm, please do not hesitate to ask. You are welcome to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will be happy to help!
