Top Level:

1. Tech>Truth; My goal is to judge debates with the least intervention possible. The paradigm below reflects my ideological convictions, but those can easily be overridden by good technical argumentation and execution

2. Please do line by line; I will assume you are dropping arguments if your speech is entirely long overviews and prewritten blocks

3. I prefer critiques that disproves the desirability of the plan and K Affs that counter-define words in the resolution to provide a role for the negative

4. No argument is too bad to answer. If they are bad arguments, then they should be easy to beat

5. Condo, judge kick, insert highlighting, cardless cps, etc. are fine

6. Not great for arguments about things that happened outside of the debate

7. Evidence quality and qualifications are important; Good analytics can easily defeat poor evidence. Zero risk is definitely a thing.

8. Debate is hard and I appreciate the time and effort debaters put into the activity. I hope to put similar effort into judging debates

New Thoughts:

1. Please do not steal prep. You should stop talking and typing when the other team ends prep. I will not say anything unless it is blatant, but you will not like your speaks.

2. I seem to care about turns case more than most. Turns case should be couched in the internal link and impact level. Good Turns case arguments are the best tie breaker.

3. I think the best defense of a process or agent based counterplan is evidence defending it as an opportunity cost to the affirmative. Similarly, I am more sympathetic to theoretical objections to counterplans that fiat out of literature based deficits.

LD:

1. The closer to policy the better, but I understand there are some exceptions given time restraints

2. Threshold for "tricks" is high; I won't vote for arguments I don't understand

Public Forum:

1. I care much more about line-by-line than most. Answer the other teams arguments and clearly extend all of yours

2. Impact calculus. How do I compare boosting the economy vs reducing poverty? Clear impact comparison and instruction on how to evaluate impacts is always a winning strategy.

3. Arguments in the final focus should exist earlier in the debate

4. I strongly prefer that teams email evidence/speech docs and if you do, your speaker points will be awarded

5. Crossfire is important but important crossfire arguments should always end up in speeches

6. If both teams would like to go fast, I will not complain, just let me know before the debate
