Sweepstakes Points Allocations

Varsity Division Policy Debate Teams/Speakers:

1st:  25 points

2nd:  17.5 points                                                    

3rd:  10 points                                                       

‘Top Speaker’ awards (each):  5 points

JV Division and Novice Division Policy Teams/Speakers:

1st:  12.5 points

2nd:  10 points                                                    

3rd:  7.5 points                                                    

‘Top Speaker’ awards (each):  3 points

Varsity Congressional Debate Competitors

1st:  12.5 points

2nd:  10 points                                                      

3rd:  7.5 points

Outstanding Chair:  5 points

Novice Congressional Debate Competitors

1st:  7.5 points

2nd:  5 points                                                         

3rd:  2.5 points

NOTE 1:  If we designate two 3^rd-place teams/competitors (or semifinalists) in any division, both will receive the full allocation of 3^rd-place sweepstakes points.  With any other ties (e.g., 1^st and 2^nd or 2^nd and 3^rd), we will total the assigned points for the two places and each team/competitor will get half of the total.

NOTE 2:  If a novice competitor were to be awarded the Outstanding Chair gavel, they would receive the full five-point sweepstakes allocation.
