Coaches,

Hopefully this letter will provide information about the Public Forum tournament.

PUBLIC FORUM DEBATE

The Public Forum Debate qualifier will be held on Saturday March 31st at Maize High School. Curtis Shephard will be our Host.

The March topic will be debated.  Resolved: On balance, the current Authorization for Use of Military Force gives too much power to the president.

Each school may enter four teams. Entries count as one and will count against your degrees and memberships.

Students in Public Forum may compete in student congress, L-D, or one IE event (they may not do policy debate but may do duo interp if both are the same team).

Each school MUST provide ONE judge PLUS the coach for each team entered.  College sophomores may judge.

Entry fee is $20 per team. Make checks payable to West Kansas NSDA c/o Megan Hagaman.

School Consent Forms: You do not need a green sheet, but you will need to print and sign a school consent form. If I do not have your forms from Congress/Policy/Big Questions I will need those before you compete in the next qualifier. You get this sheet by logging in to tabroom, selecting the West KS NSDA tourney, and then clicking the NSDA forms tab.

Double Entry Letters: Don’t forget that any student double entering any one or combination of district qualifying tournaments needs to complete a letter of intent and submit it prior to the competition. Such a form is available via the NSDA forms tab. Click the Download form button and fill it out.

We will be using tabroom.com to complete all registration for our District Tournaments this year. We will be using the system to tabulate results, assign judges, and complete ballots. Please make certain that you have created a tabroom account for yourself, and linked your NSDA members to your account. Tabroom will also generate an invoice for you to complete.

PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP

Student membership must be verified via the NSDA online point system. If a student is not on the NSDA system, they will not be eligible to compete. (This does not count for the students in the novice tournament.)
