Come join Picket Fence Academy and The New Learning Grove Academy at their first elementary school tournament!

The tournament will be held at the New Learning Grove Academy at 6680 Sierra Lane, Dublin, CA, 94568

We will be offering two events: Persuasive Speaking and Impromptu. Each event will cost $20 to enter and double entry is permitted. The tournament prelims will be held on Saturday April 28 and the final round on Sunday April 29

Persuasive Speaking

Students must pre-write and memorize a speech intent on alerting the audience to a threatening situation, or strengthen devotion to a cause, or eulogize a person. Humor and satire are allowed. Contestants may choose to offer solutions, but is not required. Students should not use props, and notes should be used sparingly (only in the grade 1-3 division). The speech should be 4-6 minutes long. 

Impromptu Speaking

Students choose one of three topics given. They may take notes during the prep time, but may not bring them up with them. The topics will consist of quotes for the first round, action verbs for the second round, feelings for the third round, and concrete nouns for the final round. The speeches should have a clear structure and thesis. There will be a 3 minute prep period and a 5-minute speech.

On-Site Registration closes at 10:30 A.M on April 29th 2018.

Each event is 20 dollars per entry

e.g If you plan to attend Impromptu Event and Persuasive Event, you need to pay 20 X 2 = 40 USD
