Welcome to the tabroom site for Tartan Invitational at Carnegie Mellon University!
The tournament will be held on April 13th and 14th, and will offer Public Forum for JV and Varsity divisions.
The following schedule applies to both divisions:
Friday, April 13th
Registration: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Welcome ceremony: 6:30 PM - 6:45 PM
Round 1: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Dinner: 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Round 2: 9:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Saturday, April 14th
Breakfast: 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM
General Announcements: 8:00 AM
Round 3: 8:15 AM - 10:15 AM
Round 4: 10:30 AM - 12:30 AM
Lunch: 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Round 5: 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Quarterfinals: 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Semifinals: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Finals: 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Awards: 8:00 PM
*All prelim rounds will be flighted.
Entry Fees
$70 per team (PF)
$50 school registration fee
The fees cover dinner on Friday, and breakfast & lunch on Saturday.
$300 hired judge fee/6 debaters (3 PF teams)
Judges
Every 3 teams will need to bring a judge. However, even if a school only brings 1 or 2 teams, they are still obligated to bring a judge.
Topic
The public forum topic will be the April NSDA topic (also the TOC topic):
Resolved: The United States federal government should increase its quota of H-1B visas.

Aside from Oakland, the closer areas to CMU are Shadyside and East End.
