Ashland Debate Weekend

2017 — OR/US

Dear Speech and Debate teams,

Welcome to Debate Weekend in Ashland May 19-21. This is a fun series of events to prepare and practice for Nationals.

Friday from 6-10pm we will run Big Questions debate.

That night is our Debate-a-thon until 8am Saturday.

Sunday at 1pm is our Congress of Champions, the top speakers in Southern Oregon have been invited.

We also have Big Questions that day. This is a bonus event that will be run during our final Congress at Ashland. Please fill your entry in Congress of Champions first and then feel free to bring as many more students as you like for Big Questions.

Entries may be single person or team. The topic this year is: Resolved: Science leaves no room for free will.

There is no entry fee but please bring one judge per two students if possible.

There are no limits on the number of students a school can send and these students will not count towards a school's Congress entry limits.

Please see NSDA online resource page for cases and evidence on Science and Free Will. (https://www.speechanddebate.org/resources/?tag=big-questions).

All events are based out of Ashland High Schools Library Building room 207.

We will use E-Ballots so please ask judges to bring portable electronic devices. (Like at Grizz and Nat Quals )  Online ballots will make the day quicker for all of us and give students and coaches faster access to feedback.
