Oregon City High School Invitational

2017 — Oregon City, OR/US

Oregon City High School Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament

March 4th, 2017

The OCHS Speech and Debate team invites you to our third annual high school tournament on Saturday, March 4th, 2017. We are striving to offer a high-quality tournament with a full range of events to help prepare for Districts. In that spirit, all events will be open division, and State rules will be followed.

Events:

Pattern A:  ADS, DI, Duo, Expos, Extemp, HI, Impromptu, Oratory, Poetry, Prose, Radio, POI

Pattern B:   CX, Public Forum, LD, Public, LIELL

Pattern C:   Student Congress

NOTE: CX will start earlier than other pattern B events. CXers can still enter Pattern A events (other than extemp), however they should leave early in order to make their CX start time.

Restrictions:

  • Students may enter up to 3 different events; two can be in the same pattern.
  • Debaters may not double enter in their pattern
  • Extemp speakers may not enter another event in Pattern A and may not enter Policy
  • Congress conflicts with everything; if you sign up for Congress, you cannot compete in anything else.
  • Maximum three entries per event per school

 Awards:

Lovely framed certificates will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each event.

Fees: If you pay your fees at registration, I will waive the $30.00 school fee.

School fee:                              $30.00

Individual Events:                   $5.00

Congress:                                $5.00

Debate Entries:                        $10.00

Uncovered IE Entry                $15.00

Uncovered Debate team         $20.00

Judging:

Each judge will cover 7 IE entries and 4 debate entries. We would prefer you bring judges rather than have uncovered entries. Schools with CX teams must bring CX judges!

Food:

There is no food within walking distance; students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. We will have food available for purchase. We will provide a free breakfast of bagels, yogurt, fruit, and coffee.

Registration:

Register via tabroom.com. Initial registration is due by Monday, February 27. Adds and Drops will be allowed up until 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 2nd. Fees will be calculated at 5:00 PM on Thursday. Any drops after that point will not alter the amount due.
