On behalf of the Brentwood School community, we’re pleased to invite you to our Middle School Debate Tournament, which will be held on our East campus on February 25th, 2017.

Registration Site: To register, please go to: brentwood.tabroom.com. Registration is due by Friday, February 17th at 5:00pm.

Resolutions: We will be debating the following resolutions:


1. States should end the practice of trying minors as adults for violent crimes.  (twice) 
2. The United States should not intervene in foreign wars. (twice)
3. The United States should substantially increase the use of one or more alternative energies, including  Nuclear, Solar, Wind, Hydropower or Geothermal energy. (once)

 

 Tournament Schedule 

7:45 am-8:15 am: Coaches should check-in –Pool Patio / Students should go to the assigned room for each school

8:45am: Coaches meet in Middle School Lab for distribution of paper, the pairings and the topic 

9:15 am: Round 1 Begins

10:00am: Coaches meet in Middle School Lab for distribution of paper, the parings and the topic 

10:20 am: Round 2 Begins

11:00 am: Coaches meet in Middle School Lab for distribution of paper, the parings and the topic 

11:30 Round 3 Begins

Lunch service begins 12:15 pm: Coaches may come to Middle School Lab to look at ballots and tabroom.com printouts to audit the entering of ballots.

12:45 pm: Coaches may come to Middle School Lab to watch the power-pairing of Round 3 (Note: once you enter the room, you shouldn’t leave until released.)

12:45pm: Coaches meet in Middle School Lab for distribution of paper, the parings and the topic

1:10 pm: Round 3 Begins

1:50 pm: Coaches meet in Middle School Lab for distribution of paper, the parings and the topic

2:15 Round 4 Begins

3:00 Coaches meet in Middle School Lab for distribution of paper, the parings and the topic

3:30 pm: Round 4 Begins

4:00 pm Coaches meet in Middle School Lab for distribution of paper, the parings and the topic

4:20 Round 5 Begins

5:15pm: Awards (Gym)

Meals: Brentwood will be serving lunch at the cost of $8 per person. Each school will be allowed two free coach meals.  NOTE: We will do our best to adequately estimate the number of lunches, but it is never an exact science.  Please list the amount lunches you will require on tabroom.com and schools will be required to pay for the lunches indicated.  If the lunches run out for guests or parents, there are plenty of lunch options within a quick walk of the school.
