2017 Marie Clegg Jones Memorial Tournament Vitals

 

Thank your for your interest in the Marie Clegg Jones Memorial Tournament at Utah Valley University. We once again would like to thank Kevin Jones and the Marie Clegg Jones Foundation for sponsoring this year’s tournament which allows us to reduce the costs on this campus. We are proud to once again be a NIETOC qualifying tournament. (I know this isn’t flowery but we don’t want to read a page long statement) so here are vital information you need to know.

Dates: January 27-28, 2017

Location: Utah Valley University, Orem, Utah

 

Events: Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Program of Oral Interpretation, Original Oratory, Informative Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, Lincoln Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Policy Debate, and Student Congress.

 

Double Entry: Competitors may double enter in IEs only.

 

Judges: 1 judge for every 6 IE/Congress entries

1 judge for every 4 LD/PF entries

1 judge for every 2 Policy entries

Judges are available for hire

 

Fees:   $10 school fee

$4 per student

$100 per hired judge

$25 for each round missed by non-hired judge

$25 drop fee after deadline

 

Food: Judges/Coaches- Snacks on Friday, Snacks and Lunch on Saturday. Please pre-order

our and your judges lunches on tabroom.

Students - Meals from various on campus establishments and snacks will be available

for purchase

 
 
 
 

Entertainment: Pictures will be taken by a professional photographer throughout the tournament.

She will have prescribed times during lulls in the tournament when she will take free

team pictures.

 

The student center will be made available for students including free billiards, table tennis, gaming consoles, and bowling.
