Marist Scrimmage Series 2

2020 — Online, GA/US

The Marist Scrimmage Series is an afternoon debate series intended for new high school debaters to practice prior to competitions.

The tournament will use the Zoom Room Model and will be free of charge to everyone. It will require all students have an updated Zoom software that enables them to join their own breakout rooms.  The Zoom Room will be linked to the rooms and will be accessible via the pairing on Wednesday afternoon.

We will offer the following events:

Second Year Public Forum -- this event will require coaches and/or students to disclose their argument positions via email and/or the NDCA wiki. There will be no coin flip and the aff will speak first.

Novice Public Forum -- this event will require coaches and/or students to disclose their argument positions via email and/or the NDCA wiki.  There will be no coin flip and the aff will speak first.

Novice Policy Debate -- this event will follow GFCA rules and students will be limited to the arguments in the GFCA Packet.

Rookie Policy Debate -- this event will follow GFCA rules and students will be limited to the Death Penalty aff/neg and Movements DA.

As a reminder, this is a scrimmage.  It is not about winning or losing. It is about learning.  While there will be ballots in every event, we host this event to offer a low-stress, safe learning environment for our younger, inexperienced students.   It is also an opportunity for your JV and varsity students to judge.  If there are enough students to judge, we will put multiple judges in debate to provide more ballot feedback for students.

Tentative Schedule

5:00pm -- Policy Debate Round 1

5:15pm -- Public Forum Round 1

6:30pm -- Public Forum Round 2

If you have any questions - please do not hesitate to email us.  Thanks!
