This is our FIRST virtual league debate tournament, so please be patient as we figure out how to do things and keep checking here for the most up-to-date announcements.

IMPORTANT (and apologies for the delay)--but WE NEED RELEASE FORMS FOR THE VIRTUAL TOURNAMENT You will see the link to the Release on the right. We need one for every competitor. Please collect them all and send them to treasurer@wbfl.org and get them in by Friday 5pm.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Registration is now open. Since it's virtual, we're giving you until next WEDNESDAY 5pm to get your entry in. You can still do drops and name changes by THURSDAY 5pm. At that point, entries are frozen; judges are due; and fees are set. You can still have drops, but you're paying for them at that point.

2. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure every student and every judge has a TABROOM account. You have to know what the email they use for TABROOM so you can LINK them to your school entry. We will let you know who is not linked. But any student or judge not linked by next THURSDAY at 5pm doesn't count... This TABROOM account is critical since that's how you access competition rooms, etc.

3. On the day of the tournament itself, you will need to make sure all your kids are awake, not sick, etc. and the same with your judges.. and then confirm THAT MORNING that you are "ONSITE" (not really, but virtually--and that there are no changes).... Please do that by end of registration so we can start on time.

4. We will do JUDGES instructions in the morning.. VIRTUAL.

5. We will do REGISTRATION in the morning. Where you can tell us live any changes, etc.

6. We will also give EACH SCHOOL a "virtual room" the students and coaches and judges can go to hang out whenever rounds are not happening, etc. You can have team meetings there; coach there, etc.

7. Links to every room will be through TABROOM. The online platform does not permit spectators. The only people permitted to go into competition rooms are the students assigned to that room, the judges assigned to judge that room, and the tabroom staff. Coaches (associated to the School on tabroom) have access to the common rooms and the team room assigned to your school.

8. We are going to try to single-flight judges still AND stagger some of the debate events so we can optimally use our pool. Every judge will be in one pool to judge every debate event. So they should be flexible. We have rounds basically going every hour. But the nice thing about this platform is that judges will be notified by EMAIL or TEXT (depending on how they setup their accounts) when they have an assignment. So please make sure everyone has an account that is setup with the latest information.

9. We have a tentative schedule below. IT IS TENTATIVE. Depending on how the entry numbers and judging numbers come in, I may need to move debate events from one time slot to another. So be flexible. BUT THIS DOES GIVE YOU A PRETTY ACCURATE IDEA of when the day will START and when it will END.

10. Still shooting for 4 rounds all events, except for policy (which is likely 3). We will have NOVICE and OPEN divisions; if the entry numbers don't warrant a division though, I will collapse divisions. Since we know we won't have that many policy, I'm just going to have OPEN and no NOVICE.

11. If you have judges that are new and would like some information in advance, feel free to direct them to these resources. https://www.speechanddebate.org/judge-training/

12. Please mail (or drop off) checks made out Western Bay Forensics League to 4322 La Salle Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90062. We understand that they may not arrive on time for this tournament. Payments may also be made on Paypal to paypal.me/WBFL or @WBFL on the mobile app. Please make sure the school name is in the comment and that the payment matches the amount due listed on tab.

13. I am sure I've not thought of everything yet. So if you think of issues/questions, etc. email me victor@gotovictor.com and I will add new announcements/clarifications, etc. to this list here. Keep checking back for new announcements.
