The Plano West TFA/TOC Invitational Qualifying Tournament

A Classrooms.Cloud Tournament

(214) 263- 6662

Dear Colleagues,

Please accept this as your personal invitation to attend the Plano West TFA, TOC, and NIETOC. Invitational Qualifying Tournament on October 23-25, 2020. This tournament offers a Semi Finals bid in Public Forum Debate, a Top 6 bid in Congressional Debate, as well as TOC and NIETOC bids in all speech events.

We are pleased to allow students to cross enter into both Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, International Extemporaneous Speaking, as well as Congressional Debate. Students that compete in LD, CX, PF, or Worlds may not cross enter into other events.

We are excited about the schedule of events, level of competition, quality judging and unique opportunities provided this year. We hope you can participate!

Please note that The Plano West Tournament will offer 5 preliminary rounds in Public Forum Debate. All other debate events will have 4 preliminary rounds. Congress will have Prelims and Semis on Friday and Finals Saturday morning. Public Forum will have rounds into Sunday, October 25th, all other events will conclude on Saturday evening. We will not be breaking brackets in Public Forum Debate. For all other debate events brackets will be broken.

All IEs will be asynchronous EXCEPT for extemporaneous. IE submissions are due Wednesday, October 21st at 7:00 PM CST.

We do not accept independent entries.  A school coach or adult must enter students into the Tournament.  A school authorized adult must be in attendance and responsible at all times for the duration of the tournament.

Finally, the Plano West Tournament is pleased to continue giving out the Rhonda Smith Award to the top performing student between both extemporaneous speaking events. We will also offer a sweepstakes award for 1st-3rd Place schools in attendance. This year, we will not be awarding individual plaques and trophies. In lieu of individual awards being mailed to schools, we will be making a donation to charity. We love the speech and debate community, and we feel this is a better use of these funds, particularly in these unusual times.
