All Star Online Summer Edition

2020 — Online, TX/US

Welcome to the All Star Online Tournament - Summer Edition!

Please fill out this form BEFORE taking any action on tabroom - there are important instructions!! https://forms.gle/NmDquJK3bSxyrK7bA

There will be prefs, there is no entry fee, and you don’t have to bring your own judge. Coaches can enter to debate and students are allowed to judge. The only division offered is Lincoln-Douglas. Please follow the deadlines for registration and judge additions, both of which can be seen on the right.

Topic: Resolved: The United States ought to grant legal personhood to natural ecosystems.

The tournament will be held entirely over discord so that it will be more organized. Please scroll down to "Discord Info" for more information and instructions.

This time we will be having an organized prep group system! If people would like, they can opt into organized prep groups which will be assigned in 1 week (give or take). There will be designated team captains who will individually organize prep for this topic with the rest of the squad. This system is completely optional but is in place to help people who have not previously done prep for this tournament's topic!

Happy Debating!

Behavior Guidelines

We have a zero tolerance policy for harassment, intimidation, and other such behavior. If it happens once, you will be immediately removed from the tournament.

Adults: The purpose of your competing is for fun and for the education of students. Your first priority should be making sure that the rounds are safe and educational for the students you debate (and the students who are judging you). Any behavior that intimidates or harasses a student (or in any other way makes them uncomfortable), including but not limited to sexual harassment or other such comments, is absolutely unacceptable. This also extends to in round behavior - any cross x or speech practices that would upset the student or make the round uneducational will not be permitted. As an adult in the community, your primary responsibility is the wellbeing of the students.

Students: If at any time, you feel uncomfortable, upset, or as if a coach/judge has violated the above policy, you can either Facebook Message, Discord DM, or email any member of tabroom. We realize reporting can be scary or upsetting, and can often be difficult, so we won’t share your identity with the perpetrator - the only person who will know is the original person who you report to. The only exception to this is extreme cases where sexual harassment or violence is involved, in which case reporting may be mandatory. We really hope to not have any problems but, if they arise, we hope everyone feels comfortable reaching out because our first priority is a safe and educational tournament for all students. This reporting procedure also applies to any issues you have with other students relating to sexual harassment, etc.

**Any time a student is debating a coach, we will make sure that someone designated to be able to monitor/report is in the call or judging. If any student wants to have a specific trusted older person in the room, they should request that person (can be someone tabbing, or someone of their own choice) and we'll make sure they stay in the call together the entire time**

**As a student judge, if you feel uncomfortable judging a coach, let tabroom know and we will change out the judges ASAP**
