Young Genius Association is very excited to host an online Congressional Debate tournament this spring. We invite all Congressional Debaters in the 6th through 12th grades to attend!

Our tournament will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2020 and will be conducted entirely online.

 

Registration for this tournament is open for all middle and high school students who reside in California and outside of the state. There are two categories: for middle school (6-8th grade) and high school (9-12th grade) 

 

Tournament Schedule:

9:00 - 9:30AM • Check in to your virtual Congress Houses online

9:30 - 9:40AM • Welcome with Bay Area Speech and Debate Principal, Ms. Taisia, and Academic Director, Ms. Leah

9:45 - 11:15AM • Round 1

11:15 - 11:45AM • Break 

11:45AM - 1:15PM • Round 2

1:15 - 1:45PM • Break

1:45 - 3:15PM • Round 3

3:15 - 3:45PM • Break

3:45 - 5:15PM • Final Round

5:15 - 5:30PM • Break

Please note: all of the times listed above are PDT. 

 

Middle School and High School students will be separated into two different divisions. Students will debate a total of 3 preliminary rounds, with the opportunity to speak on two bills/resolutions per session. The top 10-12 competitors will advance to a final round, where they will discuss two additional topics.
