Forensics Coaches Invitational

2020 — Blue Valley West HS, Overland P, KS/US

The 6th annual FCI will be held at Blue Valley West on Saturday, April 25th, 2020. We are excited to announce that this year, we will also be including a novice state division (see below for details). As far as FCI, each participating school may bring up to 16 entries.  As a reminder, students will be fully qualified to FCI once they have met one of the following criteria in an event:

  1. Qualify to state champs twice over the course of the season

  2. Qualify to state champs once and place one away from qualifying a separate time

  3. Qualify to state champs once and place twice in addition

  4. Fully qualify to NSDA, NCFL, or NIETOC

The FCI tournament will offer USX, IX, DI, HI, DUO, DA, IDA, POE, PRO, POI, INFO (10 minute and 7 minute), Impromptu and OO. Qualified students may not compete in more than three events total or in two extemp events.  Medals will be awarded to the top 6 entries in each event. FCI will provide a traditional schools sweepstakes award to the top 3 schools and the FCI travelling season trophy will be awarded to the school with the most overall FCI bids from the entire year (only schools participating in the actual FCI tournament are eligible). Entry fees will be $10 per entry. Schools must bring 2 qualified judges for every six entries. If you have extra judges you can bring beyond your requirement, that would be great as well! We also ask that head coaches be one of their qualified judges so that we can ensure the best judging available for all the students.  If you as the head coach cannot attend the tournament, please let us know. If you are bringing a replacement sponsor for yourself, and/or additional judges to meet your quota, please make sure these judges have at least a couple years’ experience with forensics and that they are prepared to fill out detailed, education, constructive ballots. The tournament will follow KSHSAA event guidelines. We will not be following KSHSAA or NSDA tournament rules/procedures. The FCI committee will handle any disputes (please, let there be none) as we see fit. Judges may choose to time or not time.

Kansas Novice Championships: There is no qualification. Each school may send up to 8 novice entries (with no more than 3 events per student) and must provide 1 judge per 4 entries. Advanced students are acceptable as judges

Blue Valley West will provide a lunch for all FCI and novice competitors and coaches (this is included in the entry fees), and we will also continue the tradition of having student nominated performances (FCI competitors) during lunch! More information will be sent out about this the week of the tournament.

Please enter at http://ksfci.tabroom.com by Monday, April 20th at 5pm. ALSO, MAKE SURE YOUR QUALIFICATION ENTRY FORM HAS BEEN SUBMITTED VIA TABROOM AT THIS TIME AS WELL.
