End of Semester Online Championship

2020 — La Verne, CA/US

Good evening,

thanks to everyone that helped us get through today.  We had some issues but I appreciate your patience while we attempted to resolve them.  I believe that Yaatly has the potential to be an effective platform for online debate, but I do not believe it is ready for the kind of event we are hosting.  We are going to switch from Yaatly to Zoom tomorrow.  We believe that your experience will be much smoother through Zoom.  Here is our plan.

1. Tomorrow morning, approx. 7:30 a.m. Pacific time, I will email out a Zoom invite to all coaches and judges.  Coaches please share this link with your participants.  Participants, if you haven't received the link from you coach by 8:00 a.m. Pacific time, please email me and I will provide you the link (peters@damien-hs.edu)

2. Please arrive in the Zoom meeting at 8:30 a.m.  We will begin placing debaters and judges into breakout rooms at that time.  (pairings will be posted at 8:45 a.m.)

3. If you would like to observe the debates, we will place you in your requested room after all the participants have been placed in their debates.

4. I will post guidelines for Zoom on Tabroom.com later today.

5. For breaks:  all teams with winning records will clear.  It may be possible that 2-2 with high speaks clear. We cannot make that judgement until after round 4.

Thanks again for everything, please let me know if you have any questions.

Donny

For file sharing please use https://speechdrop.net/ or a similar platform instead of an e-mail chain.  Please keep in mind that many students at the tournament are young and we want to protect privacy as much as possible.
