This tournament is a region prep tournament

The idea is to give kids one last chance to practice cases and speeches before region tournaments. There will ONLY be events held at regions

Tooele High Debate would like to invite to you to attend our tournament on February 12, 2021

THERE ARE NO ASYNC EVENTS AT THIS TOURNAMENT!!!  

PF and IE SCHEDULE:

2:40 - 3:00 PM            Registration

ENTRY FEES:

$4.00 per individual student entered, (a team entry would be $8.00) and a $15.00 school fee. Make checks payable to Tooele High Debate.

EVENTS/LEVEL:

All events will be open level competition.  Foreign extemp, national extemp, impromptu, oratory, student congress, Lincoln-Douglas debate, public forum debate, BQ and Policy debate will be offered. (SPAR may be offered if there is intrest from 1A-3A schools)

DOUBLE ENTRY:

Students in foreign extemp, national extemp, impromptu, or oratory may double enter within those events at their own risk (we like to end on time and WILL NOT hold up the tournament for double entries).  No triple-entering. No provisions for scheduling will be made.  No double entering if entered in CX, public forum, Lincoln-Douglas, or student congress.

TOPICS:

Public forum will the debate the MARCH topics: We will add them when they become available.

Lincoln-Douglas will debate the MARCH/APRIL topic:  We will add them when they become available

CX topic is Resolved: The United States federal government should enact substantial criminal justice reform in the United States in one or more of the following: forensic science, policing, sentencing.

BQ topic Resolved: Mathematics was discovered, not invented.

Remember we are trying to get kids ready for Region/State and want to use topics that will be used that those tournaments

AWARDS:

There will be 1^st-5^th. In congress, the top three in each house will receive awards, as well as the best chair. They will be mailed out to coaches and coaches will be responsible to get awards to students

JUDGING:

 We will be using online ballots please make sure your judges are signed up and entered so that we can run a tight tournament. If you Do NOT bring your judges or your judges do not judge your school will be assessed a $25.00 fine per missing judge (seriously you will have a fine) 

One judge is required for every 5 entries or portion thereof, in individual events and congress. 

One judge is required for every 3 teams or portion thereof in Public Forum and Lincoln-Douglas.  

One judge is needed for every 2 teams or portion thereof in CX.  If you bring CX teams, bring people who can judge it.  You will designate your CX judges at registration. Those judges will be assigned ballots by name, and must pick up their ballots each round. If you don’t bring judges or your policy judges don’t pick up their ballots, I will drop your teams.  

ENTRY LIMITS:

Entries will be limited to 4 in each event. Extra entries may be approved depending on space.  My school budget is pretty small and I don’t want to buy extra NSDA rooms, so please enter early, as I may have to close registration when I am full.   Enter on www.tabroom.com . No changes after Feb 10^th at 3:00 PM.

FOOD:

There will NOT be Concessions this year. Please tell your students to plan accordingly.

MISCELLANY:

Please avoid drops and late entries. Please have required judges.  Late drops and no shows will be subject to UHSAA sanctioned fines.
