Clackamas Holiday Edge

2019 — Clackamas, OR/US

Dear Coaches,

We are very excited to invite you to the annual Clackamas High School Holiday Edge Speech Competition, held on December 7, 2019. The tournament is designed to complement the debate tournament held at Cleveland High School. However, both tournaments will run independently of each other. Students may not enter both Clackamas and Cleveland.

Pattern A: ADS, DI, Duo, Inform, LIELL, Impromptu, Storytelling, POI

Pattern B: Extemp, HI, Oratory, Poetry, Prose, Radio

We will be on the west (main) campus throughout the day. There is another school event happening on the east campus.

We will be offering novice and open division in all events except Storytelling unless numbers force us to collapse. Novice is for all students in the first year of competition. Open is available as an option for all competitors. We strongly encourage ALL students to register in the open division.

Students may sign up for a total of four individual events (max two per pattern), except extemp speakers. All extemp competitors should only compete in extemp during Pattern B.

We will follow state rules and we will be using online ballots via tabroom. Please make sure your judges know how to access online ballots.

We are going to be having an ugly sweater competition for coaches. Prizes will be given at awards.

Storytelling: International Stories

Printing: Please bring hard copies of your speeches. There will not be a way for students to print on campus.

Deadlines:

We will shut down once we reach capacity. Register early. The deadline for adds/new entries is Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 9 pm.

Drops/name changes will be taken until 7 am on December 7, 2019.

Payment: We prefer payment to be made on the day of the tournament. Please make payment to Clackamas High School.

Awards:

We will give awards to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place speakers in each individual event. All finalists will receive a certificate. Both novice and open will contribute to sweepstakes.

Fees:

$25.00 per school registration fee.

$8.00 per individual event (this includes Duo)

Judging:

⇒ One judge covers 6 individual events. Each uncovered entry will be charged $10.00. Please bring judges as we want to have a smooth tournament and we would rather have your judges rather than your money.

⇒ Please clearly state in your registration when your judges will be present.

⇒ Each school must have one experienced judge, coach, or parent present the entire tournament.

⇒ We will be using tabroom online ballots. Please make sure your judges are registered on tabroom and know how to access their ballots. If your judges do not pick up their ballots, we reserve the right to bill your team.

⇒ We use teachers, parents and community members to judge, please advise your students that they will need to “adapt".
