Welcome to Tournavelt! November 8-9, 2019 at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa!

Speech

All speech will be held Friday only. Double entry is permitted. Tournavelt! is a speech bid for the 2020 UK Speech Tournament of Champions! Bids are awarded based on the actual entries in a given event. If 24 or fewer competitors enter, the top three receive bids. If 25-72 people compete, all finalists receive bids. If 73 or more are in an event, all semifinalists receive bids.

Tentative events (depending on entry numbers): DI, DUO, HI, POI, EXT, OO, INFO, SS (not eligible for bid)

Debate

Policy will be Friday and Saturday; Round 1 and Round 2 will be Friday, remaining Policy rounds will be Saturday. Lincoln Douglas, Novice Public Forum, Varisty Public Forum, and Congress will be held Saturday only. Double entry is not permitted. Rounds will be single flighted and break to the appropriate elim round. There will be novice and varsity divisions of PF and open divisions of CX and LD. More detailed schedule TBD. Pilot NSDA speech times (3 min summary and 3 min prep) will be used. We will use the NSDA Nov/Dec topics in LD and PF.

Congress

Congress will be held on Saturday only. Please have Congress bills submitted through Tabroom by November 1 @ 6:00 PM. This has been extended to November 4th @ 6:00 PM CST.

Judges

Hired judges are not readily available. You are expected to fulfill your full judging obligation; the tournament is not set up to allow half judges. If you need a judge, request one via email to Loan Nguyen. Tabroom will show the fee, but do not assume the judge is covered until it has been confirmed by Loan.
