DSDA NCFL National Quals

Welcome to the second annual DSDA qualifying tournament for the NCFL Grand Nationals, which will be held May 25-26 in Milwaukee WI. PLEASE NOTE:  THIS TOURNEY IS ONLY FOR THE FIVE HIGH SCHOOLS WHO JOINED NCFL IN DECEMBER. The Wilmington diocese can qualify ONE student in each event (including debate- policy, LD, and PF; speech- extemp, oratory and declamation; interp- dramatic, oral, and duo; and Congress).

To the extent that there is more than one entry per event, rounds will run as scheduled.  If there is only one contestant there will be a demonstration conducted in front of an audience during round 1 of the tournament.

Schools must provide judges- parents, educators, or college students.  There will be a brief training session at 8:00 in the Library.  Electronic ballots will be used in all events so all judges must go to tabroom.com and register. Judges are obligated through the end of the tournament and will be released as soon as Finals are posted.

Plaques will be awarded to the top 3 contestants in each event.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE (this will be adjusted based on total registrations as of Friday)- PF will be double flighted. 

Round 1: 8:30

Round 2: 9:45

Round 3: 11:00

Finals: 1:00

Awards:  2:00

The tournament will be held at Cab Calloway School for Arts, 100 DuPont Rd Wilmington DE.  Doors open at 8:00 AM and all participants should come to the LIBRARY which is at the end of the hallway to the right as you enter.

If a student knows that they cannot attend the Grand Nationals, which will be held over Memorial Day, they SHOULD NOT attend this tournament.

DEBATE TOPICS: These are the official March NSDA topics:

PF:Resolved: The United States should promote the development of market rate housing in urban neighborhoods.  
LD: Resolved: The illegal use of drugs ought to be treated as a matter of public health, not of criminal justice.
CX: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce its restrictions on legal immigration to the United States.
