We are excited to once again host this wonderful opportunity for top caliber speech & debate competition! We host this tournament to value this activity in hopes to empower voices of our youth to engage in their community and the world. We hope to provide a brave and inclusive space for competition where competitors can bring performances and researched cases to celebrate and share their talent and hard work.

Schedule for the day:

7:00- 8:00 Registration

8:00- 9:15 Round 1 Pattern A

8:30- 9:00 Congress Setting the docket

9:30-10:45 Round 1 Pattern B extemp draw @9:30, speak @10

10:00- 12:30 Congress Session 1

11:00- 12:15 Round 2 Pattern A,

12:30- 1:45 Round 2 Pattern B, extemp draw @12:30, speak @ 1

12:30-1:45 Congress on Break for Lunch

2:00-3:15 Round 3 Pattern A

2:00-4:30 Congress Session 2

3:30-4:45 Round 3 Pattern B extemp draw @3:30, speak  @4

5:00- 6:30 Finals Patterns A and B every final will be asap.

Final extemp draw at 5:15 extemp speak at 5:45

Multiple entries will be handled, and held in as timely a manner as possible.

ADS Finals Directly before awards on the stage.

Awards held ASAP. We are shooting for 7pm

In the case of a need for any semi-final rounds, the schedule towards the end of the day shall be adjusted to accommodate those rounds.

Events Offered:

Open Division Only:

Pattern A: ADS, DI, DUO, OO, LDV, LIELL, IMP, POI

Pattern B: Poetry, Parli Debate, Inform, Extemp, Prose, Radio, HI, Public Forum

Pattern C: Congress

Pattern D: CX

Students may enter 3 speech events per pattern, OR one debate event. NO SPEECH and DEBATE in the same pattern. CX may only enter CX.

Dates and Deadlines: Tabroom registration closes Wednesday, January 23rd.

Code of Honor: It is our intention to emphasize both the NSDA Code of Honor and Coaches Code of Ethics. This activity is far more than winning rounds - it is one which encourages and upholds integrity, humility, respect, leadership and service. Likewise, coaches hold a special position in our activity - one whereby their ethics (or lack thereof) impact students in a profound manner. Fees:

School Fee: $30.00 per School

Congress: $8.00 per Participant

Policy, Parli and Public Forum: $20.00 per Team

Speech Events and Lincoln Douglas: $8.00 per entry

Schools that present a check at registration may take $20.00 off their total.

Refreshments:

Concessions available for purchase.

For judges; Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks on Saturday will be available in the Judge Hospitality

Area.

Chaperones: An adult who is an employee of the school or school district the student(s) represent should accompany students competing in the tournament.  An acceptable alternative is an adult who has been background checked by the school, and has been approved to take full responsibility for the care of students of that school while at a tournament.  Under no circumstances should students be left on campus without a school-approved chaperone present on campus. Teams who violate this policy will be disqualified from the tournament, and will not be issued a refund.  Schools will be asked to list who that adult will be as a condition of final registration.

Judges: One Judge per 4 entries in patterns ABC,  1 judge per each cx entry.

Occasionally events grow to a size where a break to a 7 person final becomes complicated, in this case we will hold a semi. Semi rounds will be heald in as timely as manner as we can muster.

Protests: Although we never hope for protests, we do plan accordingly.

For harassment or discrimination complaints, are to be brought to the Tournament Director.

For procedures for all other complaints or challenges, may be handled by the Tournament Director.

The Tournament Director reserves the right to appoint an Ombudsperson for the tournament to handle complaints and protests.

Protests are filed with the Tournament Director or official ombudsperson on duty.  The tournament will provide a form in the Tabulation Room on which protests are to be filed.  Protests may only be filed by a coach of record for the school, and must be filed in a timely manner.  

Decisions of the Ombudsperson or Tournament Director are final and are not appealable.

Awards will be presented to the Top 3 in each event. Certificates for the finalists.

Sweepstakes: We present a championship award to the Top 3 schools placing in the McMinnville Invitational.  Sweepstakes are calculated as follows:

For All Speech Events:

First place is awarded 12 points

Second place is awarded 10 points

Third place is awarded 8 points

Fourth place is awarded 6 points

Fifth place is awarded 4 points

Sixth place is awarded 2 points

Non-advancing Semifinalists are awarded 1 point

For Congressional Debate:

First place is awarded 12 points

Second place is awarded 10 points

Third place is awarded 8 points

For All Debate Events:

First place is awarded 12 points

Second place is awarded 10 points

Advance to Semifinal is awarded 8 points
