JR SR Christmas Classic

2018 — Franklin, KY, KY/US

Tournament Updates:

DEC 11 UPDATE

The deadline dates posted on Tabroom and printed on the invitation were not the same; therefore, I have changed the tabroom deadline dates to match up with what was printed on the invitation.

The registration deadline is now WED 12/12/18 at 4 p.m. central.

I will have congress legislation posted today; however since the deadlines were a little confusing, if you have any additional congress legislation to submit, please get it to me by WED at 4 p.m. and I'll add it to the bill packet.  Tabroom only shows 3 students registered for Congress at this time, and we need 10 in order for the event to make, but several schools have contacted me about congress entries, so I think we may be ok once everyone has their entries finalized.

Also regarding Congress: since the sessions are going to be so short, we will not reset precedence nor recency for the prelims.  Those will reset for Supers should supers be needed.

The current weather forecast is looking like rain.  Please bring umbrellas!

As always, please contact me if you have any questions.

DEC 7 UPDATE

Food Update

We have decided to have food trucks provide concessions for our tournament.  They plan to be set up by 7 a.m. to offer breakfast items for about $3 or less and will remain until the lunch rush is over--at least 2 or later.  For lunch, they will have tacos, nachos, hot dogs, burgers, and BBQ with chips & drinks with prices ranging from $3-$8.  They also plan to offer some meatless options including a bean burger.

Judges, coaches, and bus drivers will still have our hospitality room to look forward to!

Book Collection

One of my students has started a charitable organization that sends books to rural schoolchildren abroad.  She will have a large collection box at our tournament to collect any new or gently-read kid-friendly books you would like to donate.  So, it's a great time to clean out your book shelf and give the gift of reading to a great cause.  Her organization can make the most use of pre-k and elementary books, but will take books for older students too.

Kentucky Storytelling Association

The Kentucky Storytelling Association will have an information table set up so you and your students can learn more about this wonderful organization that promotes the art of storytelling.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions. janet.martin@bgreen.kyschools.us

DEC 5 UPDATE
BGHS is excited to welcome you to the Christmas Classic Tournament being held DEC 15 at Franklin Simpson High School in Franklin, KY.  Thanks to our Franklin Simpson friends for graciously opening their doors for the tourney to take place!

A few things I wanted to update you on:

1.  We will NOT be using online ballots.  Expect paper ballots.

2.  Junior high judges may be judging some senior high rounds and vice versa.  Please let your judges know this.  In case you don't dwell in the Sr. High world much, you can expect more serious subject matter and language at times.  AND be prepared to check the KHSSL rules there are some event differences  https://khssl.org/handbook/
---SR has Informative speaking, Program Oral Interpretation and Duo Interpretation
---JR has Duo Acting, not Interp

3. Judge Training--We will offer a brief judge training at 8:00 a.m. the morning of the tournament.

4.  We are using both Franklin Simpson Middle and High School, which sit very close beside each other.  Registration, ballots, & tab will all be in the High school.  There is not a covered walkway connecting the 2 buildings, so have umbrellas if the forecast looks like rain.

We currently have 0 showing up in Congress, but I know many of you have not really put in entries yet, and that could change quickly.
