UMBrooks Debate Tournament

2018 — MN/US

Thanks for your interest in the UMBrooks policy debate tournament held at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. We will be entirely on the West Bank this year operating out of Blegen Hall. I suggest you have your buses drop off/pick up at the roundabout at the intersection of 19th ave S and 3rd St S outside the Humphrey School of Public affairs. We will also be hosting a talent show during lunch, so make sure your students are prepared to show off their unique skills! Whether it be singing, yo-yoing, juggling, or anything in-between we'd like to see them do their best!

Dates: November 9-10

Schedule: We will be hosting 4 total rounds of policy debate on Saturday.

Saturday

7:30-8:15am Registration and Check In (head coaches please come to tab during this time)

8:45-10:30am Round 1

10:45-12:30 Round 2

12:30-1:30 Lunch and Talent Show

1:30-3:30 Round 3

4:00-6:00 Round 4

6:00-6:30 Awards

Events: We will be hosting Rookie, Novice (Packet), JV, and Varsity - we also have opened the possibility of hosting Novice Open, but there need to be at least as many teams entered as there are rounds plus one (so for a two round schedule we need 3 teams entered from different schools). If there aren't enough entries to support Open Novice I will let you know by the night of Tuesday the 13th. Also, Varsity will be paired in a different way at this tournament; rather than randomizing pairings the first two debates then pairing high/low we will instead try a new method of pairing by seeding all varsity entries then pairing high/high.

Payment: Please make your checks payable to the following

Minnesota Urban Debate League

2211 Riverside Ave CB26

Minneapolis, MN 55454

Registration costs help pay for facility, personnel, and food fees.
