This event is an improvisational event with no preparation prior to the tournament. Rules of this event will vary slightly from tournament to tournament. Basically, the student will select three topics from an envelope and then choose his/her favorite from those three. Then, the student may split their time however they please between preparation time and performance time (the most common way to split is four minutes prepping and three minutes performing). The presentation should adhere to the topic as much as possible and have a clear, satisfying conclusion at the end. Notes are usually not permitted during the performance, however at some tournaments they are allowed.
