North Mecklenburg Jimmy K Poole Viking Classic
2019 — Huntersville, NC/US
Text of message
Most of North Carolina will be moving to a congress schedule that has two sessions followed by a final session. North Mecklenburg will be the first of these tournaments.
Preliminary sessions will be two hours and 15 minutes long. To accommodate for shorter session length, chamber sizes will be smaller in order to allow everyone adequate opportunity to speak. We will try to keep preliminary chamber sizes down to between 12 and 15 students if possible.
A total of 12 students equally divided from each chamber will advance to a two hour final session. That's six breaks per chamber if there are two chambers or four breaks per chamber if there are three chambers.
There still will be separate novice and varsity divisions, as always. There will be no awards out of preliminary sessions. The only awards (including Presiding Officer awards) will come out of finals.
Due to the change in schedule, the docket has been revised to accommodate a final round. There will be three pieces of legislation for each preliminary session and three pieces of legislation for finals. There will be one backup piece that can be used in any session in the unlikely event that all three pieces of legislation get fully debated and voted on.
Please note that the legislation to research has not changed. The only thing that has changed is the session that each piece of legislation is assigned.
The new docket assignments for each session are now posted on Tabroom. Please make sure that your students are aware of the revised docket. Again, it's the same legislation. Just different session assignments.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me and I'll be happy to clarify.
We look forward to seeing you in two weeks.-----------------------------
